Five half-marathons, four 5k races, three sprint triathlons, two 10k races, and one full marathon. All in one year, and all in memory of someone who never knew she was strong.

Gooooooooaaaaaaaalllllllssss!

The following are my official goals for the next year. I am giving myself until the end of 2011 to complete all of these, although some line items have more specific timelines.  I have a lot to do, but I am looking forward to an awesome year.  In addition, although this is a weight-loss and exercise blog, there are some other types of goals in here, too.  Here goes:

Complete a full marathon:  Currently on the schedule for 01/09/11 (nervous!)

To weigh less than 190 pounds.  I am keeping this one fairly general, simply because of my changing muscle mass. I know this is a good number for me, and I know I have weighed less than this, but I have never been as strong as I am now (and getting stronger everyday) 190 is a good base number for a 6'1" woman, and that is what I choose to have as a goal for weight. For now.

To fit into size 12 pants. This more important to me than the above number.

To finish my book proposal by my 35th birthday (in August) I get so busy writing and editing at work that I forget to spend time writing and editing the stuff that means the most to me.  I need to make time for this.

To be able to do 20 man push ups in a row. I can do zero right now.  Or maybe half.  But I am starting at zero.

To do an Olympic distance triathlon. I still love the sprint distance, but it is time to move onward and upwards towards bigger tris. I will put one on the schedule for this summer.

To be able to bike up Lookout Mountain. (I want to participate in Beer Bike Bench this year; oh yeah, it's on)

To (finally) hit a 10 minute pace for an entire half marathon.

To go visit my dad and stepmom at least monthly.  They are only an hour away, but I never get down there to see them because I am always so busy. I miss them.  And they won't be around forever.  I need to get down there more often.

Ok.  That's what I have. As things are changing in my life, I include the less-measurable goals of being a really good wife (we're almost 5 months in already!) and continuing to be successful professionally.  Those are always on the list. Updates on all of the goals will come along with the weigh-in that happens on the first of each month.  Did I forget anything? Whew!!  Things are about to get good!

  4. "man push ups" :) That made me giggle. I'm currently working on my push ups. Some days I do what I call "full" pushups, somedays I do "cheater" push ups (from the knee) but everyday I do them, I feel good. I work on different kids of push ups, elbows in, elbows out, hands close together, hands far apart, they all work on different areas of the arms and back. Long story short, GO CARA GO!
